The Tai ji Star III celebrated a successful launch and sea trial in June. Designed by CoCo Yacht and built by Glow Marine in Singapore, the 42m Catamaran is propelled by HamiltonJet’s Quad HTX 52 waterjets powered with MTU 12V 2000 M86 (1268 kW @ 2450 RPM) engines and ZF3050 gearboxes.

This is the first Quad HTX52 ferry to hit the water in Taiwan. Everyone involved in the project was pleased by the performance of the waterjets and ferry during the yard trail and is encouraged and buoyed by the confidence the market has shown in our products and services.

The Tai ji Star III has joined the fleet of Hi-Ann Ferries in Taiwan, which run the route from the mainland to the popular tourist destination of Penghu Island. Hi-Ann Ferries already have a Quad HM521 ferry in their fleet, and HamiltonJet is honoured they have chosen to use us again as they expand their fleet. We now have four ferries running Taiwan’s waters, including another Quad HTX52 due to arrive by the end of 2023.
