The Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM) has secured its largest single-build contract to date, marking a major milestone in its mission to save lives at sea. The order consists of 12 new Van Wijk-class boats, which are scheduled for delivery between 2025 and 2028.

The order also includes 12 shipsets of twin HTX30 waterjets with full AVX control systems, all of which are expected to be shipped from the HamiltonJet factory by the end of 2025. The ambitious build program will be carried out in collaboration with two renowned Dutch shipyards: Dok en Scheepsbouw Woudsend BV and Habbeke Shipyard.

With the addition of these 12 vessels, the Van Wijk-class fleet will total 20 boats, marking the completion of the phased replacement of the Valentijn-class fleet, which will be gradually retired. This transition signifies a generational leap in lifeboat technology, ensuring that KNRM’s volunteers are fully equipped to respond to any situation, regardless of conditions.
