Lockdown Thoughts 2.19 - Father's Day

Today is Father’s Day in New Zealand. I know a large proportion of our workforce have kids, so I hope you are enjoying the day (even if you are a mum, it is a great excuse to offload some tasks on the children!).

Being a dad is a different job to most other ones in our lives. You take the job on for free, are regularly criticised on your performance, constantly wonder if others are doing a better job, and ultimately will never know anyway. You sometimes wonder why you bother, right?

But of course the reward is in being a part of something bigger. Something that will hopefully transcend your own lifetime and create a legacy you can be proud of. I said before, kids are a gift in their own regard.

So, if you are like me then once a year your offspring club together (if they remember) and buy you something to show your appreciation. Mine know exactly how to please me, as can be seen in todays picture! I am a sucker for beer and whisky!

Happy Father’s Day to everyone. Even if you don’t have kids, we all have or had a father. Raise a glass, and if you can maybe give them a call. I will be speaking to mine in the UK later tonight.
