Back to Lockdown ThoughtsI am very pleased to write that we welcomed the operations team back on site today. I joined Darren and Rob for most of the induction sessions and was glad to see everyone’s faces, although behind masks.
I took a poll at the end of each session. It seems that about half of you enjoy lockdowns and the other half don’t. That is understandable. Some people in my bubble at home seem to love it, whereas my wife Emma hates it and is going stir crazy!
The other rough poll I took was about vaccinations. I asked how many people were either vaccinated or had a vaccination booked. I am glad to say that about 60% of the team put their hand up. While we recognise that individuals have a right to choose, the science of vaccination is indisputable. In the western world we have largely eradicated polio, hepatitis A & B, typhoid, yellow fever, mumps and measles. I assure you all that we are better off without these diseases that kill and debilitate their victims. We must try to get to the same place with COVID-19.
So if you intend getting vaccinated but have not yet been to www.bookmyvaccine.co.nz then PLEASE do so. It is quite possible that the government will start using the vaccination level in an organisation to govern if and how they are allowed to operate, so please do it for us all.
And if you have your doubts, I urge you to check the science you have been reading. Try searching for articles on both sides of the argument rather than just one. And be careful of how easy it is to make something sound scientific. Often the evidence behind the conspiracies is dubious and does not get the same scrutiny as the medical profession at large.
